TIME TO SAY ‘NO TO DRUGS’ & ‘YES TO SPORTS ’-BRIJ BHUSHAN GOYAL
Drug menace of catastrophe proportion is gripping the world. Youth have to be very careful and they must avoid succumbing to the drug allure given by drug peddlers. The best way is to engage ourselves by choosing sports and games which give us the real charm of life rather than killing hallucinations of drugs. Here are some positives and negatives of sports and drugs.
Drugs mess-up with our minds:
Drug use affects the addict’s memory so badly that a Drug use makes us falsely believe that one is more alert and aware, but, it is only a mirage.
Sports enhance our ability for a sharp memory with focused thinking to excel in our studies too. Sports give us the real feeling of alertness and awareness A sportsperson is blessed with an agile and an intelligent mind. A healthy mind lives in a healthy body. Games help us to relieve our stress.
Drugs may mess with our body:
Drugs make one ill and overdose kills-drugs are poisons after all. Hepatitis C, HIV and AIDS like diseases catch the addicts fast as these eat up body’s resistance by depleting vitamins and minerals. Malnutrition becomes a habit of addicts. Why be a loser? Aspire to Stay Healthy always.
Sports help us make and maintain a better physique. We remain fit and active. Sports keep our body in shape and prevent from common as well as serious diseases. An active and a fit body is more helpful while fighting with illness or trying to recover quickly from serious ailments, if struck unknowingly.
Drugs mess up with our wallet-makes us pauper.
Our Curtailed ability makes it harder to earn money. However a person under the influence of drugs is quite likely to make expensive mistakes and will e incompetent. Unemployment waits and stares the addicts. Also, a drug habit can be really expensive (up to hundreds of thousands of rupees per day!).This may land us into the crime world. So, let us not waste our money. Drugs are the ultimate betrayer – we pay big money to destroy ourselves.
Whereas, sports can make us richer and richer. A sportsperson never makes an expensive mistake which cost him/her dearly and likewise values both pennies and pounds since he learns that silly mistakes will cost him/her dearly. Materially games prepare us to earn more bucks in our every enterprise.
Drugs mess-up with our overseas travel plans
Anyone convicted of drugs offences will are not allowed entrance in many a countries. Why lose exciting opportunities to travel? Why limit your options as to where you want to work &live? Many people like to work abroad, during their career. This would be impossible with a criminal record.
Sports help us enjoy travel and tours. Sports give you a chance to travel around the country and the world and see new places and meet new people. Sportspersons get travel visas easier than other people who want to travel for business, or work or studies. It not only lets us see and enjoy different cultures, it also lets you learn from other cultures and expand your horizons.
Drugs messup with our love life and fertility:
There is evidence that abuse of drugs can lead to impotence in males. Abuse of drugs in females affects unborn children as they may suffer from birth complications. The damage that drug use can do to one’s physical appearance is very obvious.
Whereas, sports enhance your stamina and vitality by keeping the body and mind fit. Sports make us beautiful internally as well as externally.
Drugs mess with our hopes and dreams.
Drug addicts carve for their next fix/high and all other things become secondary for as the normal human behavior is ignored for this carving. Everyone has hopes and dreams for the future, but for addicts only despair and nightmare in lot of drug addicts.
But, sportsperson realize their dreams. Sports on the other hand let us set and focus on a fixed goal/target. Once we achieve our aim, we are always able to set a higher and tougher target for ourselves. This way, we can think about the future and plan our life and not just the next few minutes of a momentary false hallucination which drugs provide us to take us to our ruin ultimately.
Therefore, since it is our own life .Let us have total control over it. Let drugs not drive us .Let us not get trapped into drug dealers’ designs to rob us of our lives.

A well written article. This is a solution for our state which is badly in the grip of drug menace. If youth opt for sports as mentioned in this article, We can win our war against drugs. I sincerely wish more such articles.
Explained in a very easy words how drugs have negetive effects on our body mind wallet and on our entertainment. A well written article Goyal ji.
The importance of SPORTS should not be undermined at any cost and DRUGS should be
abandoned by all means.
It was the Greek who, with their belief that a healthy mind can exist only in a healthy body, encouraged sports in a big way. Though we have traversed a long distance since then, we often come across cases of drug abuse and drug addiction. The Government’s steps to discourage drug abuse through its criminalisation appear to be futile. There is a need for closer family ties and for inculcation of good habits at the level of the family and society.
That is so true,Sir.
