JASWANT SINGH ZAFAR-PUNJAB GOVT. DECIDES TO HONOR THIS EMINENT PUNJABI POET AND WRITER WITH CASH AWARD SUITABLY.
It is just been gathered that, today Punjab Govt. has decided to confer Shiromani Poet Award ਸ਼੍ਰੋਮਣੀ ਕਵੀ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ to Er. Jaswant Singh Zafar Dy. CE Grid Construction Circle , PSPCL Ludhiana.
He has contributed 4 Punjabi poetry books, 3 prose books and 1 Drama.
Many of his writings have been translated into Hindi, English, Marathi, Tamil, Bangla, Udia and other Indian languages.
The award includes Rs. 5 lac cash, a citation and a shawl.

ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਹਿੰਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਕੁਝ ਲਿਖਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਕੰਨੜ, ਮਰਾਠੀ, ਤੈਲਗੂ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਅਨੁਵਾਦ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਨ ਹੋਇਆ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਦਿੱਲੀ, ਮੁੰਬਈ, ਕੋਲਕਤਾ, ਗੁਵਹਾਟੀ, ਪੂਨੇ, ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੰਗਾਨਗਰ, ਅੰਬਾਲਾ, ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ, ਸਰੀ, ਅੇਡਮੈਂਟਨ, ਟੋਰੰਟੋ, ਸਾਂਨ ਫਰਾਂਸਿਸਕੋ, ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ, ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ, ਸਿਡਨੀ, ਐਡੀਲੇਡ, ਬਰਿਸਬੇਨ, ਕੈਨਬਰਾ ਆਦਿ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ।
ਜਲੰਧਰ, ਦਿੱਲੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ, ਬਠਿੰਡਾ, ਵੈਨਕੂਵਰ, ਟਰੌਂਟੋ, ਨਿਊਯਾਰਕ, ਮੈਲਬੌਰਨ ਸਮੇਤ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲਗਪਗ ਸਾਰੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੇ ਰੇਡੀਓ ਅਤੇ ਟੀ. ਵੀ. ਚੈਨਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਅਨੇਕਾਂ ਵਾਰ ਕਵਿਤਾ ਪਾਠ ਅਤੇ ਗੱਲਬਾਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਰਤ ਹੋਈ। ਕਈ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਕਈ ਟੀ. ਵੀ. ਚੈਨਲਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਤੇ ਰਚਨਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਡਾਕੂਮੈਂਟਰੀਆਂ ਪ੍ਰਸਤੁਤ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਗਈਆਂ।
25 ਤੋਂ ਵਧੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਸਭਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਮਾਨ ਸਨਮਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਰਸਕਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਹੋਏ।
Here it is worth mentioning that the English translation of Jaswant Zafar’s much acclaimed Punjabi poem ‘Asin Nanak De Ki Lagde Haan (Who We Are To Nanak ) which was translated in English by Jasdeep Singh was published in INDIA TODAY ‘s special issue published on the historic occassion of the 550th birth Anniversary of Sri Guru Nanak dev Ji in October, 2019.The issue is a collector’s item.The picture of translated poem is at the top.

Satish Chander Dhawan,Govt.College, Ludhiana’s Alumni Association members viz- Prof. Gurbhajan Gill (A Punjabi poet of repute ), Prof. Dr.Harblas Heera ,Prof Dr. Kamal Kishor, Shri Bal Anand –IFS,(A former Ambassador and a writer), S.K B Singh DGM (Retd. PNB ) , S. Baldev Singh Bagi. Dr. Sunil Chopra and Brij Bhushan Goyal (ALL ALUMNI) have congratulated Jaswant Zafar.
Brij B.Goyal thanked the Punjab Govt.’s Language Dept. for recognising talent of Punjabi writers .Zafar is among many other who been honored.
Principal Dr. Dharam Singh Sandhu, has said that Jaswant Zafar has made us proud in the true legacy of illustrious Alumni of the college .
Mr. Navdeep Singh ,the Station Director of AIR (FM Channel) at Ludhiana who is also Alumnus of SCD Govt College has also hailed his recognition.
