EH MELA HEI (THIS IS A FAIR) -A POEM DEDICATED TO FARMERS’ STRUGGLE –BY SURJIT PATAR

Surjit Patar

EH MELA HEI (THIS IS A FAIR) -A POEM DEDICATED TO FARMERS’ STRUGGLE –BY SURJIT PATAR

My people everywhere, I can see,

My people everywhere, I can’t see.

Integrated in them are people of melody

Integrated in them are people of heavens three

This is a fair.

Integrated in this is our land, fauna, waters and air

Integrated in this is our laughs, our tears and songs ,

And you feel not, who all are integrated here.

This is a fair.

Integrated in this is our ancestors’ history colorful

Integrated in this is –legends of peoples of land

Integrated in this our patience, our hope, our faith

Integrated in this is the Divine Word, insights and prayers

This is a fair.

Integrated in this is our present, past and future

Integrated in this is blend of Hindus, Muslims, Jains and Sikhs

This tells so much of you see and what you cant see,

This is a fair

This is a movement, a struggle, we celebrate here,

This is our annoyance, our pain and pleasure.

History is written and written are questions for you,

And you feel not, who all are integrated here.

This is a fair.

Not a hooligans’ crowd, these are bands of souls,

Read thy lines you must, words here have meanings,

This is a fair.

This grand spectrum is procession of different genres

On way is the Caravan ordained by Gurus-the seers,

Egos of ‘I’ dropped, the Caravan ‘We’ on way there

Integrated in this are lessons learnt since ages

Integrated in this are wisdom of mystics fourteen.

This is a fair.

Listen you, an innocent and interesting tale I tell.

Of laments of a daughter beautiful of Delhi

You return, it will be once again a bleak and sad Delhi

Traffics will be there again, but not a company of souls

which gives langars (food),who eat langars in lines disciplined

What will we do when we will miss this grand spectacle?

Tears in our eyes,

On seeing this spectrum of sorts,

This is a fair.

You return home safe and sound, I pray

You win this battle of truth, I pray.

You return and write on your land,

the destiny of  your own.

You return with realizations new,

with aspirations and promises new,

of love, simplicity and bonds  so strong.

Mother ICCHRAN and PURAN son

Will meet again,

This is a fair.

My people everywhere, I can see,

My people everywhere, I can’t see.

Integrated in them are people of melody

Integrated in them are people of heavens three

This is a fair.

Wah Surjit Patar ji and great work by Goyal ji,depicting the real picture of farmers.their feelings, their agonies, aspirations, seriousness ,their excitment, calmness, warriourship, and love to their land and countery. We salute Patar ji and Goyal ji ,for supporting the Movement.I think ,we all should support to them because we are here today only after consuming the products ,the farmers ever produced. If we fail to do this.then we will be Parasites, thankless as well as selfish. We all are Indians ,we should sipport The Real India.

Very heart touching poem by Respected Surjit Patar Ji , apart from that, if I talk about translation ,though it is very difficult to understand someones feelings & emotions specially in poetry , MR GOYAL has successfully explored the deapth of it poem beautifully by writing it inhis style ( Translation)

Thanks to the Govt for its anti-farmers bills. Look at the outcome & the result. The world has witnessed the greatest ever unity. Recently, the election in Bihar was on voters devided in sects – Yadavs, Kurmies, Majdoor Sangs, Sangs, BJP, RSS, Cong. Left, Right wings, Muslims, Sikhs, women & what not. Today, they are there as farmers, led by their very own.The Political Class is just Zero. No doubt the Pol Cl will be there with all the treachery & the result/winning/losing will not matter much to the farmers, as in the very short run, they will take the revenge through that typical mindset which is not in the interest of us all, & the NATION we love. Look at the stand taken by the Canadian PM. Reading Respected Patar Ji’s poem & the excellent translation felt like commenting. But could’t find words, as saying good or raising a thumb would have been insulting. So have to go into the outcome & the Source-FARMERS -ANNDAATA. And look what an ocean of words. Add on to it other popular poets & singers, Volunteers, Daddas, Daddees, youth & what not for the World to give a thought.

Surjit Patar Ji, the Legend has always raised his voice through his poetry what”s happening around. This is really a master piece on the ongoing Farmer’s agitation for their rights. Sh. Brij Bhushan Goyal has equally done a commendable job in translating the same in English which will also be helpful in extending the scope for other readers.
I Convey my heartiest thanks to both & wish them all the best
