Man is a unique animal and no other creature dares to stand tall before him in terms of intellect, wisdom and gregariousness.Who can deny the fact that human species (Homo sapiens) is the best creation of the ALMIGHTY GOD?
Although every man is almost lost in this material world, but still for happiness, prosperity, advancement and protection, he needs some rights.
HUMAN RIGHTS are our basic claims which we deserve for being human beings. They incorporate key values viz nobility, equality, justice and reverence. They safeguard us, particularly those who may have to encounter abuse, neglect and seclusion. They are our amour.
The INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY is annually observed on 10th December the world over. The occasion commemorates that auspicious day of 1948 when the UN General Assembly embraced the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Since its release, UDHR has become a vital testimony of what should be considered as the standard for basic equality and human dignity.
The theme of this year is : RECOVER BETTER—STAND UP FOR HUMAN RIGHTS.The slogan relates to Covid 19 pandemic and concentrates on the urgency to build back better by ensuring that human rights are crucial for recovery efforts.
The US considers Free Speech and Right to Vote as the chief human rights.
One of the aims of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights is Gender Equality.
In India, the NATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION (NHRC) was created in October,1993 reflecting concern for protection and promotion of human rights of ‘Right To Equality’, ‘Right To Freedom Of Speech & Expression’ and ‘Right To Freedom Of Religion’ which are some of the several fundamental rights enshrined in our constitution.
No one can deny the fact that the task of wiping away human atrocities globally is a herculean task because the world is badly divided into fragments by economic gulfs and religious divergences. Hardly exists a country which has not witnessed till date massacres, bloodsheds or genocides. Violence perpetrated by religious or political fanatics of any State should also be denounced and eradicated for a better world.
HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATION is no less than a crime and this must be conceived a violation of rights of not only of an individual, but of the whole humanity .
The repercussions of gross violation of human rights on victims are really traumatic, multidimensional and long-lasting. The victims may lead a mentally lame life virtually throughout, if not supported.
For each nation, the top most yearning should be an urge to revere ‘Human rights’ as a national responsibility, a moral obligation and God’s dictum of universal brotherhood.
Let us be sincere in protecting Human Rights of one and all.
