NATIONAL YOUTH DAY(12th Jan.) & THE GREAT LUMINARY SWAMI VIVEKANANDA
Youth are the future stalwarts of not only a society but a nation too.
‘YOUTH’ has been derived from middle English ‘YOUTHE’ denoting junior warriors. It is a time period between the childhood (the golden period of one’s life) and maturity. The youth are an embodiment of a fresh appearance and vigour.
To honour SWAMI VIVEKANANDA’S innumerable contributions, the government of India in 1984 declared his birthday as NATIONAL YOUTH DAY (NYD OR YUVA DIVAS).
The ultimate goal of celebrating this day is to imbibe in youngsters rational, empirical and logical thinking. The day demands that the Indian teens must strive hard to rise to the values, principles and beliefs that the great swami lived by.
The theme of the NYD 2021 is ‘CHANNELISING YOUTH POWER FOR NATION BUILDING’.
SWAMI VIVEKANANDA (NARENDRANATH DATTA)–the great luminary was born on 12th January in 1863, Calcutta .He enlightened the western world with HINDUISM.His lifestyle, ideas , ideals and ideologies are indeed a great source of inspiration for one and all.
He was an ardent disciple of Sh.Ramakrishna Parmahansa—a noted Indian saint and religious leader of 19th century.Being an intense force in the revival of Hinduism, he pushed for national integration in colonial India and his famous speech (CHICAGO ADDRESS, Sept 11 ,1893) remains as one of the unique speeches ever delivered in the world.
THIS ROLE MODEL FOR THE INDIAN YOUTH FIRMLY BELIEVED THAT ONLY EDUCATION EMANCIPATES AND CAN BUILD A BETTER SOCIETY, A STRONG NATION. ACCORDING TO HIM EDUCATION IS THE PRIMARY MEANS OF EMPOWERING HUMAN BEINGS (BOTH MEN AND WOMEN) AND GOES A LONG WAY IN NOT ONLY IMBIBING VALUES BUT ALSO STRENGTHENING CHARACTER.
HIS MILLION DOLLAR WORDS SHOULD ALWAYS ADORN OUR WALLS……
‘ARISE,AWAKE,AND STOP NOT TILL THE GOAL IS REACHED’
