‘MAN CAN’T LIVE  ON  BREAD  ALONE ‘ (FRIENDSHIP DAY)

‘ONE BEST BOOK IS EQUAL TO HUNDRED GOOD FRIENDS , BUT ONE GOOD FRIEND IS EQUAL TO A LIBRARY’ –APJ ABDUL KALAM
Whereas  ‘MARRIAGE’  is the best institution for a social creature  like man, next to it is  ‘FRIENDSHIP’. It is a mighty interpersonal bond of affection and affinity. To recognize  and realise the significance  of this extremely  beautiful  relationship across the globe ‘Friendship  Day ‘is celebrated on 30th July in several parts of the world  but in our own country  it is held on the first Sunday of August.
The  day aims at propagating the craze for friendship  among fellow beings ,societies , cultures and nations so that the overall global quality of  stability, solidarity  and tranquility increases  manifold.
‘ FRIENDSHIP IS LIKE A HANDSHAKE,THERE IS NO UPPER HAND.’
Being a lifelong priceless asset a friend never lets you feel hesitant, sad or inferior.Faith and respect  are the emblems of a true friendship. It neither knows boundaries of age and sex nor of caste and creed.History is the witness that even a king and a pauper could be friends.Who can forget the friendship of LORD KRISHNA AND SUDAMA?
A good friend never betrays , stands by you and lends you a shoulder to cry in adversity and  extends a great company in prosperity .He / she is one who overlooks your broken fence , but admires the tulips in your garden.
Above all is a spectre of protection and security.People of similar taste and temperaments  become friends  fast and  remain so  forever.
‘IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO HAVE ACQUAINTANCE WITH ALL,FRIENDSHIP WITH FEW AND INTIMACY WITH ONE .’
A bosom buddy is a beacon , a lighthouse and what not. There is no dearth of deceptives  in this world ,they are cosmopolitan in nature .We should beware of fair-weather friends,  identify them at the earliest and always keep them at an arm’s length  as  are crafty, selfish , manipulative and dangerous.
Change is the law of nature ; seasons change, rivers change their courses and mountains their shapes. Friends come and go as our parents get transferred,we change institutes or countries for higher education and  jobs but the real and responsible friends are  our eternal soulmates.Their memories are perpetually sweet and inspiringly nostalgic .They have the guts to accept us with all our positive and negative traits.
‘BE SLOW IN MAKING A FRIEND AND SLOWER IN CHANGING’.
