World Olive Tree Day—26 NOVEMBER

Olive is a small very useful and sacred tree belonging to the family OLEACEAE with the botanical name OLEA EUROPAEA.The executive board of UNESCO has urged to celebrate November 26 as ‘World Olive Tree‘ every year. The annual celebration will definitely go a long way to safeguard this ancient tree and preserve its long-standing value. Truly speaking it’s one of the most beloved trees in the history of mankind. It is considered holy since ancient Greek times. The Olive tree has been mentioned innumerable times in the Bible. Since time immemorial it is considered a symbol of peace, longevity, harmony, growth, rebirth and friendship. The tree has also been a rich source of inspiration to many poets, authors and artists .The roots of the tree are so strong that it can regenerate itself even if its shoot system gets destroyed.
Grown in 56 countries the tree boasts of sustainable cultivation. They combat global warming and desertification. It is known for OLIVES AND OLIVE OIL. Both are very nutritious as well as healthy and make the key ingredients in the Mediterranean diet. They are high in Vitamin E and other powerful antioxidants which are of great therapeutic value. It is no exaggeration that they are good for heart, skin & hair, bones & joints , obesity and above all prevent Colon Cancer. They are a rich source of iron, sodium and healthy fats. They improve digestion and age-related eye issues. Olive is one of the world’s most widely enjoyed foods and has been labeled as NATURE’S HEALTHIEST FOOD.

Most valuable knowledge, Actually most of the world knows about the olive and people using it on their food. In India as a poor country one can’t afford it.and they had their own oils every part of India in south they have coconut in west and middle they have ground nut in north they have mustard which are much cheaper and healthy too. The nutrient value may not be same. Now come to today topic olive it’s amazing no doubt
Indian Govt should encourage the farmer to grow it in India but if it is not possible to give subsidy on its import so Indian can also use this god gift on affordable rate
