It is pertinent to recall that CHAKAR village of Ludhiana has acquired national fame for training girls in boxing and the trainees have been winning national as well as International laurels. In Simranjit Kaur’s success National Boxing Coach Shri G.S.Sandhu takes pride in telling about initial support provided to the Boxing Academy at village CHAKAR. (G S Sandhu won the Dronacharya Award in 1998 and was also the national coach for Vijender Singh who became the first Indian boxer to fetch an Olympic medal ).

(G.S. Sandhu -National Boxing Coach)

G S Sandhu is quite appreciative of untiring efforts of S. Ajmer Singh Sidhu and S. Baldev Singh Sidhu (NRIs),S. Davinder Singh(SP Sahib) and S Jinder Singh who all have done great service for popularizing Girls’ Boxing by providing superb coaching facilities in the Boxing academy at village CHAKAR without much of other outside financial and technical support.

Hope Punjab Government will keep its promise to give Simranjit kaur, the promised job  as she belongs to a very hardworking mediocre family.

Government should support such academies with financial and technical support as these are  channelising the creative energies of youth—thegolbaltalk
