BESTOWING DIVINE STATUS UPON THE DOCTORS ONCE AGAIN (NATIONAL DOCTORS’ DAY 1st July)
— By Dr.Sunil Chopra
‘THE MOST FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLE OF MEDICINE IS LOVE’.
No cure can initiate without the presence of a qualified doctor. Factually speaking modern research and rapid advances in medicine during past decades have drastically changed the portrayal of a doctor the world over.
Till the beginning of Covid 19 pandemic the doctors were considered MESSIAHS. Some people have become skeptical now. Although doctors will invariably be indispensable, but this should not go to their heads. In the absence of patients a physician stands nowhere.
‘THE PATIENT IS THE CENTRE OF THE MEDICAL UNIVERSE AROUND WHICH ALL OUR WORKS REVOLVE AND TOWARDS WHICH ALL OUR EFFORTS TREND. — J.B.MURPHY
It is a matter of great Shame and sorrow that incidents of violence against doctors in Indian subcontinent are witnessing a considerable surge in last few years. The safety of health workers is indeed a serious issue and formulation of appropriate legal provisions and standards to ensure their safety as well as security is the dire need of the hour.
The NATIONAL DOCTORS’ DAY is observed on Ist July in India in the memory of the iconic and internationally renowned medical practitioner , Dr.B.C.Roy (born on 1st July 1882 and who left for his heavenly abode on the same very date in 1962 ) . He not only served as a freedom fighter, an educationist, a politician but above all as a physician. When the world is still struggling with the Covid pandemic, there is perhaps no better time to remember this great Indian doctor.
The day recognizes the significance of the contributions of physicians to individuals and communities.
The theme for this year is ‘BUILDING THE FUTURE WITH FAMILY DOCTORS’. On this auspicious day all and sundry should strive hard to bestow divine status upon doctors once again.
To resuscitate the glory, all doctors should be humane, go for purity, honesty, humility, truth as well as hard-work and leave no stone upturned to remain updated .
“SUCCESS IS NOT THE KEY TO HAPPINESS,IT IS VICE VERSA.IF YOU LOVE WHAT YOU ARE DOING,YOU WILL INDEED BE VICTORIOUS”.
