( An Awardee S S Bhogal speaks about his journey in industry)
On June 3 World Bicycle Day ,in an impressive function organized by The All India Cycle Manufacturers’ Association (AICMA) at Ludhiana, The Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit gave the 3rd Edition AICMA Awards in various categories for promotion of bicycle industry in India.
The Chief Guest governor Purohit asked industry to popularize bicycle in more innovative ways like telling people in AICMA members advertisements about advantages of bicycling like keeping our health wholistically fit. Knees issues are kept at bay by cycling, he said . Competitions in schools be organized for cycling , he said . He recalled his school and college days when he frequently changed many cycle brands of which some were from Ludhiana too. He also had a group photo with children. He asked Municipal Corporation Ludhiana commissioner Mr Sandeep Rishi present on the occasion to do urgent planning for cycle tracks in this city. He congratulated awardees. Earlier, Dr K B Thakur Member Secretary General AICMA gave details about life & times of governor Purohit.
AICMA also honored 25 topper students of 8th and 10th classes with bicycles which was appreciated by all.
Aditya Munjal, President AICMA in his address gave details about growth and challenges in bicycle industry in India. He was hopeful of good times ahead despite completion globally. Prof. Adarsh Pal Vig Punjab Pollution Control Board Pb Govt. hoped that industry will care about newer challenges of environment issues and this align their manufacturing practices accordingly.

The first “LIFTIME SERVICES AWARD TO CYCLE BUSINESS PERSON -2024” “ was given to Shri Surinder Singh Bhogal Managing Partner Of Bhogal Sales Corporation and Bhogal Sons. Bhogal played a pivotal role in establishing the brand as a stalwart of innovation and leadership. It was the first brand in India to export bicycle components from Ludhiana. Bhogal has been connected with organizations like EEPC, CII, UNIDO and others in key capacities. He is on Skill Development Board of Punjab University also. The citation of award reads that AICMA takes pride in recognizing Mr Bhogal’s lifetime services as a worthy business person in the Indian Bicycle Sector. Speaking on the occasion, Bhogal gave credit for his success to his father and elders in the family.

Mr Esow of Andaman & Nicobar was given the ‘Outstanding Cycle Sportsperson of the Year-2024’.
Mr Rishi Pahwa VP AICMA thanked the Chief Guest and all those who attended the award ceremony which included big names from bicycle industry of Ludhiana. Mr Satvir Singh Giosal VC PAU, Ludhiana and hundreds of bicycle and parts manfucturing industrialists were present in the occassion.
On the sidelines of the event Brij Bhushan Goyal , a social activist presented the copies of his book titled as ,“ Understanding Success -Upbeat Always” to students of Noble Foundation NGO’s school for poor children in Ludhiana who sang national anthem in the beginning and the end. Lunch was served to the attendees at the venue of Park Plaza hotel of the city where function was held.
